Plaskolite Acquires the Lighting Sheet and Profile Lens Businesses of A.L.P. Lighting

North America’s leading manufacturer of thermoplastic sheet expands its lighting product portfolio


COLUMBUS, Ohio (December 4, 2018) – Plaskolite, LLC, North America’s largest manufacturer of plastic sheet products, today announced the acquisition of the lighting sheet and profile lens business of A.L.P. Lighting Components. (A.L.P.). The acquisition includes the acrylic sheet, PET, and polycarbonate lighting sheet product lines as well as extruded profile lenses, further expanding Plaskolite’s portfolio of thermoplastic solutions for any application. It is Plaskolite’s fourth acquisition of 2018.

The deal closed November 20, 2018. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

ALP is an international leader in the design, manufacturing and distribution of lighting components and components for other technical industries. The acquisition expands Plaskolite’s lighting business and further positions the company as the leader in the thermoplastic sheet and lighting segment. This acquisition follows Plaskolite’s acquisition of Rotuba Extruders, Inc.’s profile lighting business on June 30, 2018.

The A.L.P. lighting business offers a comprehensive line of products for OEMs and the aftermarket. For proprietary projects, their unique “360° Solutions” suite of custom services enables collaboration with customers at every stage of a product’s life cycle.

This announcement follows Plaskolite’s acquisitions earlier this year of the Rotuba lighting profile lighting business, the continuous cast acrylic sheet business of Lucite International, Inc., and Covestro’s U.S. polycarbonate sheet manufacturing business.

With this acquisition, Plaskolite will employ 1,250 people in Columbus, Ohio; Zanesville, Ohio; Grand Saline, Texas; Compton, California; Olive Branch, Mississippi; Monterrey, Mexico; Memphis, Tennessee; Sheffield, Massachusetts; and Linden, New Jersey.
