Products to replace Lucite® Spa and Lucite® Bath in markets outside of North America
COLUMBUS, Ohio (May 25, 2018) – Plaskolite LLC, North America’s largest manufacturer of thermoplastic sheet products, announced today the launch of Optix® XL Spa and Optix® XL Bath, Plaskolite’s premium continuous cast products. Effective June 4, 2018, Optix XL Spa and Optix XL Bath will replace Lucite® Spa and Lucite® Bath respectively in markets outside of North America. Lucite Spa and Lucite Bath will both retain their names in North America.
The announcement comes as a result of Plaskolite’s February 12, 2018 acquisition of the continuous cast acrylic business of Lucite International Inc., which included the company’s sanitary ware spa and bath sheet operations and facilities. Plaskolite has successfully integrated the Lucite Spa and Bath sheet operations and is complying with certain brand requirements included in the transaction. Optix XL Spa and Optix XL Bath are the renamed Lucite Spa and Lucite Bath products, made from the same premium continuous cast cross-linked acrylic sheet.

In addition to Lucite’s sanitary ware spa and bath sheet, the February acquisition also included the company’s general-purpose sheet and 93,375-square-foot sheet manufacturing facility in Memphis, Tennessee. Plaskolite followed the Lucite acquisition announcement by announcing the acquisition of Covestro’s North American polycarbonate sheet manufacturing business on March 22, 2018.
